Yesterday was our final meeting of Fine Arts Club for the year. We ate a lot of yummy food and we did a little bit of landscaping work. We painted the pots that have recently been added to the front entrance of the school. Some used stencils. Some chose to do some freehand painting. The pots look great! These are a great addition to the school entrance!

Today, we went on a field trip to the Art Institute. We had a tour and a studio experience in which we explored the connection between art and science. The club members learned so much! During yesterday's club meeting, we learned about color and form. Now that our work on the spring play is complete, we have some time to go back to our Elements of Art journal.
Be sure to return your signed permission forms by Monday for our field trip next week! What a great show! I'm so proud of all of our cast and crew! It was a lot of work but we had two really great performances. If you have any pictures from the show that you would be willing to share, please email me and I will add them to the slideshow below. Tonight is opening night for our spring play, Cinderella and the Candy Kingdom. You can purchase your tickets in advance before or right after school. You can also purchase tickets at the door each night. Tickets are $3 in advance, $4 at the door.
Here's a sneak peak from last night's rehearsal! This afternoon, we had our first prop building session for props for the upcoming spring play. This play is going to require a lot of props so we are going to be very busy over the next couple of months. This afternoon, we were busy making oversized candy that will be used in the play. Last week, during Fine Arts Club, club members continued our study of line. We did a "roll a Picasso" activity. You can see the results on display in the stairway!
During our last session, Fine Arts Club members continued our study of the elements of art. We focused on Line. Members tried out different types of lines and then explored lines by looking at several pieces of art by Pablo Picasso.
At our last club meeting, we began working on our year-long study of the elements of art. The club members began working on their elements of art journals. Throughout the year, when we aren't working on other specific projects (like the spring play), we will be learning about each element of art and using this knowledge as we study different pieces of art.
This morning, members of the Fine Arts Club went on a field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. We had some time after our arrival to explore some of the museum. Most of our time, however, was spent exploring The Science Behind Pixar exhibit. We learned so much about the multiple stages and years of work that go into some of our favorite movies. |
