On Thursday, during our club meeting, we began working on some art that will be a part our school's celebration for Dia de los Muertos. During our next meetings, we will continue working on pieces that will be on display for Dia de los Muertos.

Our first activity each year is the Dot Day display in the school stairway. You can see the completed display near the school entrance. Please take a few minutes to take a look at all of the Dots. Each student in each class made one. They look great! We had our first Fine Arts Club meeting on Thursday and used our time to prep dots for Dot Day. (Keep an eye open for the finished dots on display later this week!) If you are still interested in joining Fine Arts Club, but haven't turned in a form yet, please pick one up outside of my classroom. Or, you can print off the form below. This morning, we had our final field trip for this school year. We went to Drury Lane to see Seussical the Musical. It was a fun show with some very cool special effects!
Yesterday's club meeting was held outside. We continued using oil pastels to draw flowers but we used flowers that were growing outside instead of a purchased bouquet. You can see the finished pieces hanging in the stairway.
Have you seen the flower pictures hanging up in the stairway? We made those using a new material: oil pastels. We will be using oil pastels several times until the end of the year. We did it! The spring play was Thursday and Friday. Our cast and crew worked so hard to make this production come to life. Thank you to all who helped us! If you have pictures from the play, please feel free to email them to me so that I can share those here! We are getting closer and closer to opening night for our spring play! Yesterday, we had rehearsal in one room and fine arts club met in a second room. We've been very busy. Although it might not look like a lot right now, Fine Arts Club members who didn't have rehearsal worked on one of the signs that will be used on stage during the show.
Epiphany now has a lending library! You can check it out at the school entrance next to the stairs. This week, our projects in Fine Arts Club were all about making the lending library look great! Check out the before picture: Fine Arts Club members made pillow cases, cut out paper for banners, and painted wooden letters. They did a great job!
And now, check out the after pictures: Last week, during Fine Arts Club, the club members did a roll-a-dice game to make a piece of abstract art. Each roll of the dice corresponded to a different element of art: line, shape, texture, color. The finished pieces are on display in the stairway. I recommend taking a few minutes to check them out. They are all very different and unique.
